“The only way to predict the future is to create it.” –Peter Drucker–
External circumstances provide a platform against which we find integrity. Integrity comes from internal clarity, not external events. Nothing outside of you will ever make you feel safe enough, happy enough, fulfilled enough. The balance comes internally by taking responsibility for your choices and being comfortable in your own skin regardless of external circumstances. Knowing who, when, and what to give your time and energy to is learned through constant practice of managing your moments of feeling somehow not enough—your insecurities! The integral wisdom is recognizing the difference of not being able to see beyond your own selfish wants and needs and appreciating that you can not love and care for others more than you genuinely love and care for yourself. Pressurizing others into giving you more of what you think you need only compounds the insecure feeling of lack. When you focus on being, doing, and giving what you feel is lacking, you open the gate of receiving through giving. The pressure is then shifted from external to internal, where true happiness and fulfillment exist. Action taken from this inner place of truth creates integrity in the expression of who you are through your contributions to the world.
